Extend Partition

Why manage server partitions?
For the sake of better use of disk, when having a brand new disk, we always divide it into several partitions to store important data correspondingly, which is even more important for Sever disk of high data storage requirement. However, only reasonable partition division is not enough for users to use disk better, because however reasonable the partition division is, many disk partition problems will happen as disk use time increases, for example, lack of partition space, bad tracks partition file system failing to store and manage current files and deleted data leaking. To solve or avoid those problems, fine management to Server partition is particularly important.

How to manage partitions in Windows Server 2008?
Since the release of the latest Server operating system Windows Server 2008, most users put attention to its partition management ability. On the basis of the built-in disk management tool in Windows Server 2003, new functions are added. Launch the built-in disk management tool in Windows Server 2008 and then select any partition and right click mouse. In the shortcut menu popping up, we can see all its partition management functions (as shown in the right picture) and "Extend Volume" and "Shrink Volume" are new functions. But those two functions are not as good as users imagine, for they have certain limitations. For example, when we use them to resize partition, we can only extend partition backward or shrink partition forward. If there is no unallocated partition in disk, extending partition can not be realized directly. We have to delete the partition next to the partition to be extended, to release unallocated space and then extend the target partition. Obviously, that operation is not satisfying because deleting partition means all partition data will be lost. And managing Server partition well does not only mean resizing partition, and merging partitions, wiping partition and changing cluster size are included as well, which are not possessed by the built-in utility of Windows Server 2008. At this time, the partition magic server MiniTool Partition Wizard is the best choice.

Excellent partition magic server – MiniTool Partition Wizard
MiniTool Partition Wizard provides Server edition specially designed for Server operating systems, which is not only in support of the most common Windows Server operating systems like Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008, but also of powerful functions and simple operations. Then we'll show how to extend partition in Windows Server 2008, to make users have a further understanding.

Firstly, visit http://www.partitionmagicserver.com to download and install MiniTool Partition Wizard. Then launch it and the following interface will appear.

Since there is no unallocated space adjacent to the partition to be extended (here, take extending Partition H: for example), we have to shrink partition neighboring to Partition H: to release unallocated space. Select Partition I: and click "Move/Resize" and the following interface will be shown.

Drag the left triangle rightward to shrink Partition I: and then click "OK" to go back to the main interface.

In this interface, Partition I: has been shrunk and unallocated space is released. Select Partition H: and click "Move/Resize" to extend it. After going back to the main interface again, we'll see the following interface.

We can see Partition H: has been extended successfully. But it is only a preview. Please click "Apply" to perform all previous operations.

Do you want to manage Server partition better? Do you want your Server to run more stably? Just download the partition magic server MiniTool Partition Wizard and it won't disappoint you.
