"Best Partition Manager out there" by hockemoto
have used this program to resize, create, delete, format and even once, rebuild the MBR. This was across 4 large drives of different makes on 11 different partitions. All this was done rather quickly, without any data loss.

Windows server 2003 change boot partition size

There is a hard disk drive on my Windows Server 2003 computer, and the disk is partitioned into four parts: C drive which is the boot partition, two data partitions D and E drive as well as an unallocated space. Unfortunately, when I initially configured the system, I sized C drive too small. As time flies, the irrational configuration brings me many troubles. Realizing the consequences brought by low disk space on boot partition, I plan to change boot partition size on windows server 2003 to improve the situation. What can I do to perform boot partition extension?

Solutions to Repartitioning Disk for Server 2003

1. Disk Management tool
As is well known, there is a Disk Management tool in Windows Server 2003. However, users who have used the tool may feel disappointed because of its functional limitations and defects. For instance, there is no function to extend partition, so users need to delete partition and then recreate partition, if low disk space happens to certain partition. In such cases, partition deletion may pose high risk to data security. Even if users think of backing up data, it is a time-consuming process.
2. “Diskpart” command line
Since it works under specified circumstances, users needing to use the command line to resize partition under Windows Server 2003 ought to firstly make sure that the set requirements are met. For instance, it usually does not support extension of boot/system partition. Therefore, users have to find other ways to perform Windows 2003 system partition extension.
3. Third-party server partition management software
As Windows Server 2003 does not provide effective ways to resize partition, a partition manager is necessary. How much do you know about such software?
