We know that MBR disk can have two types of partitions: one is primary partition and the other is extended partition. The latter one is always subdivided into many logical partitions. This is why we always see primary partition and logical partition on hard drive. Users may always change partition type to meet their special needs. They may set partitions as primary in MBR disk because they want to install another operating system on computer. Since boot files are usually stored in primary partition, users need another primary partition to store boot files of the new OS, if there is only one primary partition on the disk on which users want to install a second operating system.
In view of the above situation, setting partition as primary is a wise way for users to realize installing a second operating system. In this article, we’d like to introduce MiniTool Partition Wizard to users in order to set partitions as primary in MBR successfully.
Before we start to set partition as primary in MBR, we’d like users to pay attention to the following note:
Note: Users can’t set partitions as primary in MBR when there are three primary partitions and one extended partition on disk, because MBR disk only supports four primary partitions or three primary partitions and one extended partition.
1. To easily change partition type, users should click “Set Partition as Primary” from the left action panel after choosing a partition in the main interface.
2. Click “Apply” to carry out the pending changes.
That is all of the introduction for users to set partitions as primary in MBR by using partition magic. Users may get MiniTool Partition Wizard to experience the above function on their own.
