When mentioning upgrading hard drive, there is a doubt that how to replace internal hard drive. Before disk upgrade, you should prepare a hard drive and connect it to your PC. Then you can start to clone disk to the new hard drive with MiniTool Partition Wizard without reinstalling system and applications.
Firstly, download MiniTool Partition Wizard and launch it. In the main interface, you can right click your disk that you need to upgrade and choose to click “Copy”. Also you can select “Copy Disk” in the left from “Operations” to start to upgrade disk after choosing source disk.
Secondly, it is time to select a target disk to copy the source data to. All data from the source disk will be copied. And during the process of cloning disk, all data in target disk will be deleted. So you’d better ensure the target disk is empty or data has been backed up. After you click “Next” to continue, there is a warning “All the data on the disk will be destroyed. Are you sure that you want to continue?” Click “Yes”.
Note: The target hard drive should be large enough to hold all data on source disk.
Next you can review the changes you have made.
There are three copy options to be chosen:
Fit partitions to entire disk: the partitions on the source disk will occupy the entire target disk.
Copy partitions without resize: the configuration of source disk will be cloned to target disk with the same partition size.
Edit partitions on this disk: during copying disk, you can edit partitions.
Also you can select to align partitions to 1MB to optimize performance for advanced format disk and SSD. Then click “Next”.
Fourthly MiniTool Partition Wizard will warn you that you need to configure computer BIOS setting to boot from new disk. Make sure the new disk is the default boot disk. Then click “Finish”.
Then after clicking “Apply”, you will get one warning that you’d better close all your other applications before applying the pending changes. Click “Yes”.
At last, your operations will be finished in boot mode.
Do according to the above steps, you can easily copy disk. Then you only need to set to boot computer from the new hard drive. Like this, it is easy and fast to upgrade internal hard drive.
