SSD is short for Solid State Drive which refers to a kind of hard disk that is made by solid-state electronic memory chip array. The storage medium of solid-state hard disk can be divided into two types: flash chip and DRAM(Dynamic Random Access Memory).
Compared to a traditional hard disk, SSD has many merits:
Its reading and writing speed is faster.
It is possible to minimize data loss when hard disk is damaged.
Power consumption is lower.
There is no noise when SSD is at work.
Large working temperature range: it can work from -10 Celsius to 70 Celsius.
It is light in weight and can be carried easily.
Owing to so many advantages of SSD, most users choose to use SSD.
Nowadays users download and install many applications, videos, files, pictures and music to hard drives so as to use for work and entertainment. As time goes on, file cache is increasing so that hard disk is running out of space, which makes your computer run more slowly. In this case, you have to clear some file rubbishes by many ways. Nevertheless, it cannot solve this problem fundamentally. To improve computer running speed, the best way is to migrate OS to SSD due to faster reading and writing speed of SSD.
In addition, if users want to upgrade hard disk, it is a good choice to move system to a new SSD which avoid reinstalling Windows operating system. If you don’t do system migration and want to improve computer performance by reinstalling system, you have to take much time to reinstall applications. In order to avoid many troubles, you’d better move system to SSD. How to migrate system to SSD? Is it easy?
Generally speaking, there is a problem that most users have no idea to do OS migration. You may bring a great harm for operating system due to a tiny mistake in migrating process. There are three copy options:
you can choose “Fit partitions to the entire disk“, or “Copy partitions without resize“, or “Edit partitions on this disk”.
Here you can choose “Force to align partitions to 1 MB” to improve performance for advanced format disk and SSD. Click “Next”.
Then you will see a note “To boot from new disk, please configure computer BIOS setting. Make sure the new disk is configured as the default boot disk ”. Then click “Finish”.
At last, click “Apply”. Here is a note to recommend you to do some operation before applying the pending changes. After you click “Yes”, your computer will be restarted to finish all operations.
