"Best Partition Manager out there" by hockemoto
have used this program to resize, create, delete, format and even once, rebuild the MBR. This was across 4 large drives of different makes on 11 different partitions. All this was done rather quickly, without any data loss.

Cannot extend volume server 2008

Expecting to install some useful application programs to my Windows Server 2008 computer, I opened Disk 1, but only to find that all data partitions and system partition fail to accommodate those files. Therefore, I intend to perform partition extension, but I find that Disk Management in Server 2008 cannot extend volume, for corresponding function is grayed out. I wonder the exact reason and an excellent solution to improving the situation.

Partitioning Ability of Server 2008 Disk Manager

Disk Management is a system utility for managing hard disks, volumes or partitions. With the toolkit, computer users can initialize disks; create volumes, format volumes, etc. Compared with previous versions, Disk Management in Windows Server 2008 has been optimized in many aspects. And there is a typical example: the functions Extend Volume and Shrink Volume are introduced in. The two features can assist with some hard disk repartitioning issues. However, they have functional limitations. That is why some users come across the situation where Extend Volume is not activated.

If there is no contiguous unallocated space after the target partition to be managed, the mentioned issue may appear. Well then, how to extend Server 2008 system partition when the Extend Volume is grayed out? Here, we highly recommend users to try highly powerful partition magic server and MiniTool Partition Wizard Server Edition is one of such software. Boasting comprehensive disk and partition management functions, wide compatibility and high operability, the software can perfectly manage disks, partitions or volumes. Here, the detailed operations to enlarge system partition in Windows Server 2008 are explained.
