"Best Partition Manager out there" by hockemoto
have used this program to resize, create, delete, format and even once, rebuild the MBR. This was across 4 large drives of different makes on 11 different partitions. All this was done rather quickly, without any data loss.

Allocate HDD partition space server 2003 for free

My laptop running Windows Server 2003 and the HDD is split into several parts: system partition – C drive (50GB), data partitions partition D and E as well as some unallocated space. C drive has the OS and all other necessary files; D drive and E drive have all my files such as image files, audio files and video files. Recently, I am facing the situation where disk space in C drive is running really low and even approaching its limit, but there is some unallocated space and much free space in other partitions. Therefore, I wonder an easy-to-operate way to allocate HDD partition space Server 2003 for free?

What If C Drive Runs out of Space

In order to maintain the normal running state of Windows Server computer, users are expected to configure it to have minimum amount of available disk space on the system drive, and 200 MB threshold is usually the one. Once available disk space falls under the value, the system itself will take actions to keep minimum performance capabilities. To be specific, the operating system is most likely to go wrong, and system crash may become an unavoidable issue. At this time, it is urgent to allocate free space to C drive to improve the situation. Well then, how to fix Low Disk Space issue on C drive?

Strategies to Reclaim Disk Space on System Partition

1. Uninstall unused applications
There are some applications that are not frequently used, so users can find those programs out and then uninstall them to free up some capacity of space. It is noteworthy that the selection of application appears to lead to boot failure once system files are checked.
2. Disk Cleanup
As there is a built-in tool in Windows, Disk Cleanup enabling users to delete the temporary files and other unnecessary data, we can regain some free space by clearing useless data in this way. Users are also supposed to be cautious when checking data.
3. “Diskpart” command line
If users would like to enlarge a NTFS data partition for basic disk and there is unallocated space right behind the partition to be extended, certain command line works well. However, if the partition to be managed is a system partition, users will finally gain the warning information “The volume you have selected may not be extended, Please select another volume and try again”.
The mentioned three methods can not perfectly fix low disk space issue on C drive, so we highly recommend users to try using third-party server partition management software like MiniTool Partition Wizard with extremely high performance and reliability. Additionally, its wide compatibility and excellent operability have won it wide popularity.
